Common questions and answers about Racoon Hair extensions

What are Racoon hair extensions made from?
Racoon provide one of the largest and finest ranges of real hair most of which comes from Europe, particularly Eastern Europe, and Asia. The European hair is smooth and sleek, with a slight natural wave. The colour may be entirely natural or slightly processed. This is quality hair -100% root point correct. It is a rare commodity, as reflected in the price. The Standard or Far Eastern hair is more processed. The cuticle has been stripped. What was once black and straight, may now be blonde and curly. Consequently it needs more aftercare but is less expensive than the European equivalent, whilst still looking fantastic.

How are the hair extensions attached?
A specific Racoon bond is used that is kind on hair during application and equally gentle on removal. The bonds are easy to maintain and they remain unaffected by daily styling and are compatible with most well-respected haircare products. Most importantly the bonds can be easily removed using a hair friendly solvent, without causing stress or damage. All health and safety aspects have been carefully planned into the method.

The bonding material represents the perfect compromise between strength, durability and ease of removal. It is made from a mixture of completely harmless natural and synthetic compounds, including orange peel and pine kernel extracts.

How long does it take?
The times vary depending on the length and thickness of your own hair and what you are seeking to achieve.  For example, you need to allow 3-4 hours for a whole head of extensions. Given that you would have wait 3 to 4 years to grow your own, putting aside a morning or afternoon is not too much to ask. Alternatively, if your hair is naturally fine and you want to add some volume using extensions, then allow a couple of hours.

How much do they cost?
The extensions could cost in the region of £200-£600, depending on whether you have a partial or full head and the grade of hair you choose.
A few highlights could cost you as little as £20-£40.

How should I look after my new extensions?
Your stylist will explain in detail how to look after your hair and which products to use. It is important that you visit your salon for that first wash to learn the correct techniques. We recommend you pop back to the salon for a monthly maintenance visit, so that bonds can be checked over and any replaced if needs be.

How long do they last?
About 3-4 months generally, after which time the bonds will have grown down and the extensions should be removed. Providing the extension hair has been well looked after, it can then be reattached close to the scalp.

Will extensions damage my own hair?
No, is the simple answer, if you go to a Racoon Appointed Salon. Our system is hair friendly. The micro bonds cause zero damage. They are just as easy to remove as they are to apply. But beware, other extension systems can cause damage.

How easy are they to look after?
Extensions need to be treated with respect and a few simple rules adhered to, like separating the bonds before washing, supporting them when brushing, tying up the hair or wearing a cap when swimming and using the right aftercare products.
